Delaware Valley Golf Club, the Region's Premier Touring Golf League, has been around since 2001 with up to 200 members invovled. It is a competitive but friendly group with all golfing abilities attending each event.

Delaware Valley Golf Club, a traveling golf league in the Tri Sate Region of Pennsylvania is celebrating its 5th year anniversary in 2006. Members are gearing up for an exciting and fun golf season ahead. The members are also looking forward to the great courses on the 2006 schedule and with that the great prizes the top named golf sponsors are willing to give them for taking the title of either low gross or low net. The sponsors are also going to do demo days at certain events for which to view and test the new products for the avid golfer.

Since 2001 the Delaware Valley Golf Club has averaged 200 members each year. Further, the average at each event is about 80 members with some larger events having 120 participants. Members of the Delaware Valley Golf Club, make this the premier golf club of its region, since they are all involved and very friendly. With out the members that Delaware Valley golf club has, celebrating its 5th year would not be possible and the thanks go out to all of them.

There are so many reasons why Delaware Valley golf members have joined for example to play competitive but friendly golf. Also to meet and find new golf buddies. This is an excellent opportunity for the avid golfer to enjoy the feeling of "country club membership" without paying the accompanying high costs.

Delaware Valley Golf Club members play competitive golf on a regular basis while enjoying the camaraderie associated with being a club member. Members feel that there are too few opportunities for the average golfer to hone their skills in a fun, competitive yet affordable environment. Since 2001 the Delaware Valley Golf Club has changed that some members have said. Since their inception, they have averaged 200 members each year which allows each member to get to know 199 new golf buddies

The league is open to all amateur golfers the members range from 1.3 to 40.4. Regardless of a members golfing ability, every member feels that they have a chance to win since almost all events are flighted and are played with a handicap. They have chosen some of the regions finest tracks to host events. The majority of events are held on Saturdays, with a few held on weekday afternoons. Every event involves some type of match, as well as having a stroke-play low net and low gross winner. Throughout the season, players and teams collect points for wins and top-ten finishes in order to qualify for the season-ending championship.

Delaware Valley Golf Club even provides a scoreboard so that golfers can experience the excitement of a pro-like event. At seasons end, Delaware Valley Golf Club crowns members with certain earned titles such as a DVGC team champion, which in 2005 were Rick Goracy, Harry Young, and Jim Mohan. A Vardon Trophy recipient (for low net score average) which in 2005 was Jim Hilton, a Hagan Trophy recipient (for most match play victories) which in 2005 was Gary Hardel, a Hogan Award (for most improved player) which in 2005 was Bill Lucca, and a Player of the Year recipient (voted on by the club members) which in 2005 was Dan O’Callaghan, a Nelson award (Most earned points) which in 2005 was Bob Wheeler and many others.

Each year Delaware Valley Golf Club fields a Ryder Cup or President’s Cup team that competes against other similar clubs. In 2005 they competed against Pittsburg and took home the title after there was a sudden death play off on hole #1 with one top member from each team. The top members were Bob Reggio from the Delaware Valley Golf Club and Jeff Sprenkle for the Pittsburg GT. All DVGC members were very proud of how well Bob Reggio played this hole to take home the Presidents Cup. Delaware Valley Golf Club will be competing in its Ryder Cup in 2006 against Pittsburg and will be trying to bring the cup home again.

Members earn points for their team as well as their self, by being either one of the top ten net scorers of their flight or the top five gross scorers. Four times during the season there are major events in which all point totals are doubled.

The top team at the end of the regular season receives discounted greens fees into the Championship Weekend; in 2005 the team that received this award was The Pirates which consisted of Gary Hardel, Kelley Harmer, Mike Gallagher, Chuck Kedra, and Rod Karsetter. Delaware Valley Golf Club’s goal is to have fun and fun all members of DVGC have. The DVGC is officially recognized by the USGA as a golf club without real estate. This means that all events are governed by USGA rules, with special guidelines that the DVGC committee members, which have been elected on by the members, have developed and implemented themselves.
