SNOWSHOE MOUNTAIN RESORT: NOT JUST FOR THE GROWNUPS THIS WINTER
Snowshoe, WV - The kids will have more to do this Winter Season at Snowshoe Mountain Resort, with or without parents in tow. Snowshoe Mountain Resort is the largest destination resort in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast and for the 2004 – 2005 season the 11,000 acres the Resort sits on will be transformed into a playground perfect for the boundless energy found in children.
Snowshoe Mountain Resort’s popular Ski and Snowboard School will offer specialized kids programs geared towards all ages and levels of ability. Children between the ages of five and seven can join the Little Rippers program, focused on exploring new adventures on snow and racing for kids who already ski most of the mountain parallel. Advanced skiers and riders up to age 16 can join Mountain Riders, available every weekend and during holiday periods. Bear Cub, Black Bear and Hawk Programs are available for skiers and riders between the ages of four and 12.
“One of our favorite things to do here at Snowshoe Mountain Resort is to teach a young person to ski or snowboard and then watch their technique grow from year to year,” says Snowshoe Mountain Ski and Snowboard School Director Rob Mahan. “Our specialized programs are specifically tailored to every age and every ability insuring that time on the snow is well spent.”
Outdoor play and games will be the focus at Kids World located at the Ruckus Ridge Adventure Park. While mom and dad are out to dinner, kids will have a chance to strap on a set of snowshoes or enjoy storytelling, arts and crafts and scavenger hunts along the lighted slopes of Silver Creek. Snowshoe Mountain’s Outdoor Adventure guides will lead Kid’s Night Out Activities in the Silver Creek Area with adventures geared towards young ones who love the winter.
After a long day on the slopes, kids will find a place to relax again this year at Split Rock Pools. Located in the Village at Snowshoe Mountain Resort, the indoor/outdoor pools and hot tubs feature water slides and fountains, all connected by a heated sidewalk. Split Rock Pools will be open daily during the Winter Season, offering teenagers a special place to congregate on Saturday nights. Winter Teen Nights with fun, games and live music will be open for young people between the ages of 13 and 18 throughout the season.
